Tej Pratap Yadav’s Political Comeback
Patna: Tej Pratap Yadav, the eldest son of RJD leader Lalu Prasad, is set to contest the upcoming Bihar elections from the Mahua constituency. This announcement comes as his newly established party, Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD), revealed candidates for 21 different seats on Monday.
Previously a minister in the state government, Yadav formed the JJD after being expelled from the RJD in May.
According to JJD state president Madan Yadav, “Our national president, Tej Pratap Yadav, will be the candidate for the assembly elections in Mahua, located in Vaishali district.”
Yadav had held the Mahua seat until 2020 when he was moved to Hasanpur by the RJD.
The JJD has also nominated Sanjay Yadav for Madhepura, Taurif Rahman for Narkatiaganj, Dharmendra for Barauli, and Braj Bihari Bhatt for Kuchaikot, among others.
His expulsion from the RJD followed a controversial social media post where he admitted to being in a relationship with a woman named Anushka, which he later claimed was a result of his account being hacked.
Lalu Prasad distanced himself from Yadav, citing his “irresponsible behavior” as the reason.
Shortly after his removal, Yadav suggested that there was a plot to create discord between him and his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav.
This expulsion occurred just months before the assembly elections, which the RJD is contesting under Tejashwi’s leadership.
Tej Pratap and Tejashwi are among four siblings actively involved in politics out of nine.
